Michiyo Ishida is reaching out to university students in Japan and is pioneering the international students ministry there. She wants to create an international community where Japanese students and foreign students can gather together and taste the Kingdom culture. She grew up in Southeast Asia, was saved as an international student at US college; she attended U.S. schools for 8 years. She joined EFCA, ReachGlobal’s Tokyo City Team, which will plant a church in greater Waseda. She will reach out to the students at Waseda University, which has the most international students in Japan (4,300). Currently she is reaching out to the students of Seikei univ. and Kyorin univ.
The Japanese government is promoting the int'l students up to 300,000 until the year of Olympics (2020). In 2014, “Top Global University Project” was announced and government has provided funding to 37 leading public and private universities to boost their global competitiveness. If they get to hear the gospel, and get saved and discipled, they can bring back home the gospel with them as the ambassadors of Christ. This is world missions from Japan! Michiyo’s hope and dream is to see a movement of the international students ministry all over Japan!
