International Ministerial Fellowship
International Ministerial Fellowship is an association of evangelical Christian churches, ministers and lay workers with an emphasis on the centrality of Christ and the Person and Work of the Holy Spirit. We offer multiple ministry resources to our members including, but not limited to: appropriate ministerial credentials, ecclesiastical endorsement for chaplains, the service of a missions sending agency, various training resources, and much more.
We believe the “call” to Christian ministry is not limited only to those who have completed both college and seminary, or any other particular level of formal education. With over 1,300 ministry leaders across the United States and 100+ missionaries in 31 countries, IMF is serving those who serve others.
We do believe it is the New Testament pattern for those conscientious about their “calling” to do their best to present themselves “to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the Word of Truth (II Timothy 2:15, NIV).” We believe this requires study and prayerful meditation of God’s written Word (the Holy Bible) as led by the Holy Spirit in addition to other educational helps, courses, degree programs and life experiences available to the individual. All our members are encouraged to make biblical and extra-biblical study a lifetime process.
Moreover, we do not believe that God’s call to Christian ministry is passed down by apostolic succession, but we do believe that the New Testament pattern includes the “laying on of hands” in an ordination service. We believe that licensing and ordination is man’s recognition of God’s call in a person’s life and their conscientious effort to be obedient and faithful in that call.
We also believe in the priesthood of all believers and that every believer is a witness. However, as an organization we issue Christian Workers’ papers, Certified Lay Pastor credentials, Commission to Preach credentials, Spiritual Elder credentials, Commissioned Minister credentials, Special Ministry license, License and Ordination credentials and Associate Membership as appropriate to those we believe have a special call or gift to share with the Body of Christ in spiritual ministry (Ephesians 4:11). This is in no way meant to devalue or distract from the validity of each believer’s function or responsibility as a witness in Christ’s church. Read more here...
